Meet our Partners: APMVEAC

In the PLANET4HEALTH project, APMVEAC (Associação Portuguesa de Médicos Veterinários Especialistas em Animais de Companhia) is providing crucial epidemiological data about the occurrences of leishmaniasis in dogs. This data helps identify how shifts in the disease’s distribution can be a strong indicator of climate change within the context of planetary health.

APMVEAC’s role in the project

APMVEAC contributes valuable epidemiological data on the occurrences of leishmaniasis in dogs. This data helps analyse how changes in the distribution of the disease can indicate broader environmental shifts and trends related to climate change, ultimately contributing to the planetary health dialogue.

About APMVEAC

APMVEAC is a professional and scientific association of small animal practitioners working to improve the health of all pets.

Quote about the project

“Collecting information about sandfly disease occurrences has been challenging, but we believe the results obtained can be highly impactful to the global knowledge of this disease”
