Highlights from the First 10 Months of PLANET4HEALTH Journey

Over the past 10 months, the PLANET4HEALTH team has been driving progress in alignment with our mission, participating in impactful events and initiatives. These efforts have been crucial in raising awareness about sustainable Planetary Health. Let’s take a look at some key moments from this journey.

High-Level Conference on Climate Change and Health
In February 2024, PLANET4HEALTH partners from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice,
CICERO, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Institute for Medical Research, attended the “Research Perspectives on the Health Impacts of Climate Change” conference in
Brussels, organised by the European Commission. They engaged in discussions on
climate change and health challenges.

#EGU24
In April, 2024 project co-coordinator Suzana Blesic from the Institute for Medical Research, participated in the #EGU24 and co-convened a session on real- time forecasting for climate and environmental hazards.

Project co-coordinator Suzana Blesic, presented
data analysis and modeling of climate and environmental drivers of vector-borne
diseases, highlighting methodological approaches and OneHealth data challenges.

First Conference Poster Presentation at EVPC Bucharest

The PLANET4HEALTH scientific poster was showcased for the first time at the Annual
Scientific Meeting of the European Veterinary Parasitology College, presented by Carla
Maia from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, highlighting the topic of the Case Study 1,
Canine Leishmaniasis in the Iberian Peninsula.

11th European Urban Resilience Forum #EURESFO2024
PLANET4HEALTH was showcased at the #EURESFO2024 by partners from F6S. EURESFO
conference is a significant initiative for building resilient urban spaces, organised by
ICLEI and the European Environment Agency. Held in Valencia, the European Green
Capital of 2024, the event focused on promoting sustainability and resilience.

Planetary Health Cluster Kicks Off
On July 3, 2024 the Planetary Health Cluster was launched in Brussels, embarking on a
collaborative journey with five Horizon Europe projects: SPRINGS, TULIP Planetary
Health, MOSAIC, GoGreenNext, and PLANET4HEALTH. Project co-coordinator Suzana
Blesic introduced the project, highlighting its importance for human, animal, and
ecosystem health.

and the work “A Bayesian Approach to Explain Spatio-Temporal Heterogeneity in

Planetary Health.

Wageningen Project Meeting
PLANET4HEALTH project meeting hosted by our partner Wageningen University &
Research, was a success. The project team focused on data management for Case
Studies, exploring methodologies and planning future collaborations.
